Right now as I’m writing this all I am still listening to Nirvana ( title inspiration ) and I felt like that was the theme for the whole trip. So… to get a better vibe and visual switch on your favorite Nirvana playlist, or peep mine here on Grooveshark…  and then continue reading while listening please.
Cool, now we are ready. For starters, are we seriously flying away from Southern California where the spring has indeed sprung and the weather is absolutely brilliant to head North into Seattle, Washington and taking a drive down to Portland, Oregon on purpose ? Does this sound right?? Well, we told our friends we were coming so, giddy-up lets go.
Our welcoming in to Seattle was quite the pleasurable experience. It was 65 degrees and sunny as it’s ever been. Where was all of the gloom and the rain ? Who cares! Not here, not on this day. Nirvana is always on the mind here and this is where the grunge scene kicked off. We like that. Having a couple of hours to mosey around the city while it was enjoying one of it’s finest days in ages was a good thing to be a part of. Everyone was out indulging. As we mixed in and ran around visiting friends having a few beers along the way we realized we had to get over to Zebra Club and help set up for our Bacon and Beers event supporting our Spring 14 collection launch. Lots of friends stopped in and crushed a few bacon wrapped dogs and craft micro brewed beers from Mac and Jacks ( thanks doods!! ) with us and the crew from Zebra Club. The weather was in top glory mode and we drank till it ran dry. Shit, even ran back to grab a few more Raniers ( local favorite beer) just to not let in end. That was a good time for sure! Gotta stop in, say ‘hey to the crew there and have a look at our SP14 range that just went out on the floor that night.
Next morning we woke up expecting rain and the normal routine from Seattle. Didn’t happen. We found our way to the Open Public Market and saw some of the most eager Seahawks fans out ruling it on this gorgeous day. Everyone welcomed us. We lucked out! Again.
It was hard to leave Seattle in that condition with all of it’s residents buzzing and the vibe so right. We had to head on though. Long drive to Portland and we had some more friends to visit and another event for our Spring 14 collection launch with Communion the next night over at Moose’s glorious local watering hole Dig A Pony in downtown Portland. What a fucking drive! The good kind. Saw some of the most beautiful scenes along the way, a couple of which are visible below and a few more on our insty @ourCaste.
Always fun getting into Portland where the grime and the gristle run consecutively next to the hustle and bustle. Business suits and habitual drug users line the streets and each serves it’s purpose adding to the character of the city. Another nice day and we were feeling it. Stopped in at Burnside pushed around and then headed over to Dig A Pony to buy drinks for the whole town! We had one of the happiest hours we can recall with Musso and his crew at the bar. Communion and their team showed up in fine fashion and we all ran wild together for the night. If you’re in Portland and want to see our collection check out Communion and if you want a good stiff drink, pop in on Mooski at Dig A Pony. We took the coast looking for the Goonies in Astoria on the way back to Seattle and ‘oohed and awed’ around every windy bit of the most dreamy coastline. Holy shit that is a well worth it 2 hours out of the way site to see. Promise. Happy to be alive and headed home. Good times and more to come with our moto journey next week, See us soon!
