HURRICANE MARRIE’S FIRST KISS
Well, last week ruled. We are surfed the f*k out and happy as can be that we were home.
Whether you surf, boogie, body whomp, have a deep admiration for the ocean or just happened to be a lucky spectator, passing through from out of town, hands down, last week was one for the records and you wore a grin from ear to ear however you consumed it.
If you partook in Hurricane Marie’s gifts as much as we did you are likely still finding seaweed and sunburn in places that you didn’t think possible, still getting the water that is logged in your head – out and are still smiling each time you remember how it got there in the first place.
The kind of perfectly shaped waves that we all dream about and draw endless sketches of, which usually cost a fortune and time off of work and family to get to, are coming straight here ?? For us ?? In our own backyards ??
Hurricane Marie delivered, a powerful, long lasting beautiful blue swell directly behind our office in Newport Beach. All we had to do was walk. Sometimes we explored 20 minutes south or maybe twenty to the north. Maybe we even snuck into the Newport Harbor to give that a go. Wherever we were was exactly where we wanted to be. Home.
Surfing at home on great waves makes your year. If you don’t happen to have world class waves on tap at your local break year round, you are extremely grateful and waste no time in indulging. Here are some of the forerunners to Hurricane Marie. We will be throwing a few more up in another story when the waves got bigger / better. For now, here is what went down just as Hurricane Marie kissed our coast for the first time.

More photos and fun to come from this swell… See you then.
