We recently stopped in to say hi to our friend’s Jake Hobbs of Bolts Action and Andy Carter of Pangea Speed in SLC.  Be from Southern California, we are CONSTANTLY spoiled with seasonally epic weather.  You forget that, for the most part, the rest of the country has this period of winter that prevents most from riding.  Snow, close to or sub-zero temperatures, ice…I mean, it’s easy to see why the bikes end up on lifts, batteries disconnected, and fluids drained.  But, there is always the exception to the norm.  Both Jake and Andy belong to a select few who brave the winter.  The thought of being off the bike for that long is too much, and without us ever actually going through that type of cold, we have to agree.  I watched Jake wake up for work, in sub-20 degree weather, pack on layers, and walk out to ride to work.  It blew my mind, even as I sat inside and watched him with my hot cup of coffee.  Much respect to both Andy and Jake, they’ll make you think twice about posting that photo of a few drops of rain on the ground that we call “weather”…

Here’s a look into their shops and garages.  The other benefit of winter is that it does allow you the excuse to sit and get some much needed maintenance and fab done on projects that get set aside when it’s warm.
