Heavy long spells of no waves & shitty ones when they did come. Most lusting to surf feel a bit on the grey and gloomy side even though it’s 85  and dreamy out. We’ve been trying to stay up. ourCaste showroom is straight across from the beach though, so we’ve had a daily reminder about just how crap flat oceans can be.

Mid Jan. Surfline leaked something of a giant purple blob headed straight towards us. && then there was hope…

Our bud Jason (Harris) headed straight to his favorite winter time spots knowing that even though it was 85 degrees and felt like mid-summer outside, the winter breaks would soon enough come to life. Warm weather at the winter breaks and long stretches without anything rideable meant the hype would be on and that everyone would be eagerly ready to get into it. Growing up around here and knowing when and where to be paid off well for our dude who found his own fun without having to battle too terribly much with the overly frothy bunch.  Quinn Mathews and Ben Ginsberg ( thanks for the photos gents) went to document Jason as he broke away from the flat crap spell and actually got to feel happy about being a surfer living in Orange County for the first time in a long time.  2014 started off well.
